I LOVE how a show that's seemingly unrelated to your art can be so influential! This was so fun to read. I've been gravitating towards color palettes that emphasize blue and red, and I'm gonna bet that it's because of Severance!
Oh, amazing! That show is on my list. Everyone I know keeps talking about it! Also, I feel like we could do this experiment with every Wes Anderson movie. Although, maybe that is too on the nose?
Hi Corrie, so inspiring! I had the same reaction as Hermoine with my first vase. I look at it every day and sort of swoon 😂. I just made the new, smaller vases and I found them a little more difficult than the larger one. The smaller pieces were more challenging to fit together neatly but they are rustic looking which I like, too. I can’t wait to develop a few color palettes..thank you!
Hi Susan! Oh, awesome! Yeah, me too--I think smaller is a bit harder. Cardboard seems to be more forgiving at a larger scale. Plus, the texture of the paper mache is less noticeable on a larger surface. I don't mind rustic, though!
Here’s an extra boost! I cannot stop talking about my very first tray! I’m so proud of it! Also my book 🪴 arrived today and it’s so beautiful! Thank you for inspiring me to return to a craft that I was in love with as a child and had not returned to until now!
This is so cool. I love the index card idea! When I went to the Siena show at the Met recently, my mind was blown by the bold color combinations. I kept taking pictures to remind myself to be brave about combining unexpected colors.
Oh cool. Yes, the reds especially! Or, it could be that the red pigments are what have survived the best in 700ish years? Of course, then there is all the gold leaf!
Love this! Can I ask what paints you use for the background? I have a bunch of old large index cards looking for a purpose in life, and I think I've found it!
i’ve not stopped thinking about this vest since you posted it in notes so a pattern would be beyond welcome. here’s to building out our closets like characters in a star war.
Very inspiring indeed. I came across this yesterday and thought you might enjoy what the RAW COLOUR exhibition focussed on. One of your recent posts reminded me of their colours:
Corrie Beth, what an inspiration you are! So talented, in so many ways! Wow!
That is very kind of you. Thank you!

Wes Anderson’s palettes might be on the nose but they’re well known for a reason! They feel fun and timeless to me

You are so inspiring, Corrie Beth! I have never thought about palettes like this 🎨
Thanks for the boost! I am enjoying sharing more about my projects here.

Aw! Amazing! Yay! Wait, I want to see the tray!!
I would love to share it but this comment won’t let me add a photo!
Yes to the Andor vest. I've been having the same itch!
Loooove these.
thank you!

And a ton of hot pink frocks on dudes!

hiya. When I am not painting on gesso, I most often use 'Golden So Flat'! https://www.dickblick.com/products/golden-soflat-matte-acrylic-paints/
Golden So Flat (yes, chef's kiss)

I will work on it! I already have it graded; I just need to make another one with the pattern to make sure it works how it is written!
