HOW TO: Paper Flowers Using Discarded Domino Sugar Packaging
This is the first tutorial in my DIY series on transforming trash, junk mail, and recyclables into beautiful paper blooms.
Hello from the studio on a Monday morning. I’m thrilled to share my first (of hopefully many) tutorial on Substack! The response to my junk mail and trash paper flowers has been so encouraging, and many of you asked for how-tos, so here we go!
I love finding ways to reuse and upcycle materials in my creative projects. There’s something deeply satisfying about turning what would be discarded into something beautiful and new. Honestly, I think it’s super rewarding, and it kind of taps into my ‘foraging squirrel’ brain?! Ha! You know that rush when you spot a wild blueberry patch while hiking, like you just won the Easter egg hunt? That’s exactly how I feel when I find a perfect scrap of paper or cardboard—a true moment of glee! Do you experience that feeling, too?
The flower we’re making today reminds me a bit of a Campanula—what do you think?
